Gettin’ tough on the boss

Wall Street Journal newsies are stickin’ it to the Man, who’s trying to impose a lot of stuff on ’em they’d just as soon not have to put up with. Among the union’s get-tough tactics:

The angry union members have made their displeasure clear on several occasions.

Last Friday, for example, approximately 30 Barron’s employees took a 15-minute coffee break outside of the World Financial Center offices, which was “certainly” timed to occur “in the middle of deadline,” Martell said.

On Sept. 30, more than 100 Journal reporters based in New York came to work at 11:30 a.m. and refused to work for more than seven hours that day.

Man, now that’s hittin’ mister Dow and Mister Jones where they live.

See, I’m a card-carrying union man myself and I’m foursquare beind my union brethren in cutting no slack to Dow Jones & Co. But let’s face it: these baby steps seem absurd from this distance. Hence, the good-natured ribbing.
