I suppose most of you have seen these, since she posted ’em a week ago, but if not, enjoy.
I eventually worked my way up to Merced canyon to see the poppies. They are beautiful! I only stopped in Briceburg, taking the opportunity to wander down an old dirt road and explore, instead of spending more time in the car driving up the Canyon. I saw plenty of poppies and other flowers, and got to enjoy a wonderful day of spring sun in California. It can’t get much better than that!
I suspect this will be an excellent wildflower season — not too wet like two years ago, not too dry like last year.
I’m doing stair laps to get in shape for the required Henry Coe visits. You think you’re a tough guy and flowers are for girls till you see your first mariposa lily.
Then you wonder who turned Van Gogh’s ghost loose with a paintbrush.
Thanks for the link! I love hunting wildflowers, and am in fact just finishing packing up for a weekend run down to Carrizo Plain, where wildflowers are supposedly starting to peak. I hope to return with many SD cards full of purty pics.
I need to start doing stair laps too. I haven’t hiked at all since January and I am totally out o shape. But right now I am planning to join up with the “Golden Hour Photo Walk” being offered at Henry Coe at 6:30 PM on April 4th, That will be my next best chance to get out there at all and I bet it will be gorgeous. And entertaining a fantasy of doing a backpack into Henry Coe the second week of April. That will be my first chance to do it and it is something I have never done before. But I want to take a camera into the park and try to do some photography. If I do it I’ll probably try hiking to Hoover Lake for the night. My left leg has been bothering me lately though so we’ll see. In the meantime, keep taking those stairs!
