OK, Tom, in your honor – well, I did think of you once on the hike – I did the long out and back at Quicksilver from McAbee Raod to the high point at the intersection of Castillero and Mine Hills trails. Don’t want to rub it in too much, but it was a beautifully clear day.
Done and done. 🙂 I went to Point Reyes and took the Southern coastal trail from Palomarin to Bass Lake. Windy day, but beautiful! Hope you can get out and about soon!
Glad to help you out. Four of us explored the northern Carson-Iceberg Wilderness. For the range of skills and fitness of the folks that went along, we put in a non-trivial 26 miles in 2.5 days, including about 5,200′ of accumulated climbing.
We started at the Wolf Creek trailhead. We saw more equestrians than pedestrians. The mosquitos were voracious, but probably not at their peak yet. Most of the streams are flowing pretty well. There are still some significant snow patches up high.
I haven’t had time to listen to it yet, but I think I got a recording of a blonde bear cub romping through a meadow filled with the sounds of a cicada chorus. If It’s good, I’ll make it available somewhere.

It was a nice day up on the skyline trail hiking up from Sanborn. I dedicate the hike to your hard work.
I ‘hiked’ at the beach near Cambria…
