Briones Regional Park is high on my list to explore one of these days, though perhaps in the fall after the heat subsides. KQED has a raft of interesting stuff about Briones, including an audio/slideshow with a park naturalist who talks about the frogs, newts and other creatures.
Good stuff, especially if you’re in the Oakland/Berkeley area.

Thanks for the link – while Briones Regional Park is amazing, don’t overlook the EBMUD Reservoir just before the park – see my posting in case you missed my descriptions / photos of this oft-by passed place. You’ll need a permit, but they’re easy to get (info in my post).
