I don’t understand the point of the rating. Should a blogger be encouraged if the reading level is very high or discouraged? Does that mean that his/her writing sucks? Are there actually snobs out there who would only read a blog if the reading level was rated appropriately to their education? Obviously this rating was determined by some sort of computer programming, not by real organic intelligence. Surely there aren’t humans who earn a living analyzing blogs to determine their reading level. Does it look for functionally obscure keywords that only bookworm dorks would know? How dumb do you have to be in order to be convinced that such a rating really means anything?
I think from now on I won’t waste my time reading any blog which actually displays their official cyborg generated reading level. Life is too short. Cyberspace is served.
It’s meaningless drivel like 99 percent of the so-called “applications” on facebook that at least keep people off the streets where they’ll cause accidents and fill the air with smog.
My photography blog (which largely includes photographs) gets a college level rating.
The blogs that I manage as part of the college courses that I teach (which are largely somewhat dense text) get middle school and elementary school level ratings.
I enjoyed hearing your comments about the plains…though I am not really sure where they are…I will have to go look that up. The pictures were great and I think your writing was very good. No one is looking for a textbook. Thanks for sharing!
Hey, at least you made it to high school level.

A toy, really.
The irony of this “test’ includes the following:
My photography blog (which largely includes photographs) gets a college level rating.
The blogs that I manage as part of the college courses that I teach (which are largely somewhat dense text) get middle school and elementary school level ratings.
Huh?
Dan
I think that having high-scholl and lower grades hiking and reading more about hiking is a good thing. Keep up the good work!
BTW, I am *junior* high-shool level.
