Coepark.org reports that all fire-damaged areas have been declared open again.
Hat tip to Fedak for passing the news along; he’s packing his gear for a couple days of backpacking.

That’s great news. I was scouting potential hikes this weekend, but if Mt. Sizer is accessible, I think a trip to Coe is in order.
And here I sit home sick with this bug that has been going around. I caught it last Saturday on my last day in Death Valley and a week later I am still not up to getting back out there. Darn! For what it is worth though, I did take a lot of pictures in Death Valley (1100 or so) and eventually I will post the better ones on my cynscapes.com website. Anyway, I hope I can kick this bug without any leftover bronchitis so I can maybe get out to Henry Coe next weekend. I miss my favorite park already!
Back from Coe. Both less and more damage than I was expecting. The grasslands are already green again and it looks like the chapparal will be back in a season or two. Lots of dozer damage from the fire crews tho.

And Poverty Flat road still sucks.
Anyone have an extra pass for Sunday? I want to go to the Backcountry Weekend
