Mary Anne Potts from National Geographic Explorer sent this along yesterday:
Hi Tom,
I was just admiring your blog and it occurred to me that you might be able to help us out. We are working on a “Best Hikes” cover story for the magazine (it will be in April). We’re like to add some readers’ picks to our listings, but we only have two weeks to do it. If this at all interesting to you, we’d love it if you could post something on your blog about the chance to get published in Nat Geo Adventure.
Done. Here’s the link.
I nominated the High Peaks Trail at Pinnacles National Monument.
The High Peaks trail at the Pinnacles is a great one. Any list that didn’t include it would be seriously out to lunch in my book! Also, I really, really liked the section of the Coast Trail on I hiked last year with the Stanford Outing Club:

That was a long one, about 24 miles following this route:
Bear Valley Visitor Center -> Earthquake trail -> Rift Zone trail -> Stewart trail -> Ridge trail -> Lake ranch trail -> Coast trail -> Arch rock -> bear valley trail
But it sure was beautifil with everything from mist shrouded forests, lakes, and coastal views! Well worth the effort for anyone up to it.

So, are you kids entering these places at NatGeo?
I entered mine last night at NatGeo and sent them a picture. I was in a bit of a rush though so my entry was sloppy. But who knows.
