This one goes out to Steve Sergeant, who would snow-camp all year if there were clean ski tracks available. An avid outdoorsguy from Australia, where the folks in the far southern climes are chilling out for another winter, left a comment yesterday asking us to check out his blog. Naturally, the first post is about a hiker lost on a frozen mountain. Looks a bit chilly for my taste down that way.
Hiking in Tasmania? I’d love the opportunity to go. We just need the right philanthropic angel to underwrite our production of a series of editions from there.
But Tom, just to clarify, I like getting into the wilderness in all seasons. I think perpetual winter would be just as bad as perpetual summer.
Well if anyone here ever heads “Down Under” and plans to hike while they are here please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Over the last few years we have learn’t a lot of tricks and tips in relation to transport, sourcing food, maps, GPS stuff and general track information. This is especially relevant for southern Victoria and some of Tasmania. So if anyone has the travel itch don’t hesitate to contact us (maybe we might catch up for a beer and a yarn!) Frank
