A couple of my alert readers have persuaded me it’s time to think about putting some ads on my pages. Since I pull about 150,000 page views a month across three distinct blogs, it seems like not adding ads is leaving easy money on the table. And there’s no angst about somebody else influencing my content because it’s all done digitally.
The only motivation I have is to keep coming up with cool new stuff so people’ll keep stopping by — and once I have a financial incentive to keep blogging, well, the fun just keeps on coming.
It’s only taken me 10 years to overcome my resistance to adding ads on my sites; then again, it took me 30 years to return to something I always liked doing — walking in the countryside — so OK, I’m not quick on the uptake. But I generally don’t stay stupid forever (all evidence to the contrary posted here notwithstanding).
I would look into CJ.com which is commission junction the biggest add company behind google. What is so much better then adsense is you can pick each company you want on your blog and the exact type of add and better companies update their ads and pass on coupon codes. Their is a lot of outdoor and environmentalish companies. With ad sense they are just not targeted enough for an outdoor blog.
Thanks for the tip, I’ll check it out.
what does becoming a corporate shill have to do with light posting? get back on the ball man. you’re not being paid to chit chat.
You should definitely look into way to monetize your pages. Google ads are good, if you get a lot of search engine traffic, Chitika works pretty well for that, but ads only appear from search engines and is based on the keywords they searched for.
