Even though I’ve been blogging about overall greatness of hiking for over a year and a half and haven’t heard a peep of gratitude from the American Hiking Society, I’m still going to recommend getting involved in whatever National Trails Days events are happening in your neck of the woods. If you don’t get out and repair a trail somewhere tomorrow, you ought to be out in the wilds somewhere looking for trails that might be fixed next year. Trails don’t fix themselves.
Since I was too lazy to sign up for any National Trails Day events (hmm, could this be why the Hiking Society hasn’t been beating a path to my blog?), I’ll probably just do what I always do: make up my mind 30 seconds before I’m out the door. But I’ll be out there.
For all you Nor-Cal folks, the Bay Area Ridge Trail organization has a bunch of stuff happening tomorrow. The Santa Clara County Open Space Authority also has a little shindig happening in south San Jose.
Here’s a Goggle News search of Trails Day events.
Now you have no excuses not to be hiking tomorrow.
