The Daily Record in the UK has a straightforward plan: cut your food intake and up your physical activity to burn an extra 500 calories a day, and you’ll lose a pound in a week. Keep it up and you’re down 10 pounds in two and a half months.
I call this the no-Cokes, no-cookies strategy: replace high-calorie drinks like Cokes and beers, and swap cookies for baby carrots. Get in a one-hour hike every day as well and the pounds will come off. Just a matter of sticking to it.
Note: the above article is written with British women in mind so you’ll have to translate a few items.
Tom,
Long time lurker, first time poster. Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your blog. As someone who feels they already spend too much time online, I use Two Heel Drive like the Sportscenter of the outdoor blog world. I’d particularly love to see more info of specific backcountry skills like pitching a tarp, freezer bag cooking, orienteering, etc.
Brian: thanks for the kind words & feedback.
Usually what happens is, when I’m doing a bunch of backcountry stuff I tend to write about it more. Right now I’m sorta between camp-outs but I’ll probably have some coming up soon.
Also, if you click on the “backpacking” category there might be stuff you missed on previous visits.
