“Where there used to be six or eight folks hiking up the runs at dawn, there are now as many as 100 on a busy day, and many of those folks are hiking up the middle of a run or have dogs with them.”
Seems there are ski runs on public land at Bald Mountain in Sun Valley, Idaho. The hikers have every right to be there, just as they have every right to be crushed by a Sno-Cat.
Some mornings, when riding the first lift of the day, i feel sort of sorry for the hikers who are going to miss getting those first tracks after all that work.
On the other hand, i don’t feel sorry for the hikers who go right up the middle of the groomers.
Note to folks who snowshoe/hike up ski runs: Please stay to the side of the runs. Putting footprints in the middle is pretty rude.
