I’ve hiked up the Monument Peak Trail at Ed Levin County Park dozens of times but only recently did I learn I had been walking right past remnants of a plane crash on the hill back in the 1950s. I learned this from Rebecca, keeper of the Web site calipidder.com, where she posts photo albums of hikes, camp-outs (I went along with her, her husband and a friend to Emigrant Wilderness for an overnighter last summer) and other sundry adventures. Rebecca’s a gear tester for backpackgeartest.org and likes to go hunting for geocaches with her trusty GPS unit, which led her to a geocache just a few hundred feet off the Monument Peak Trail. The other day Rebecca sent me an e-mail with coordinates of the crash site (N 37
