Richard Pombo will be leaving the United States House of Representatives.

The Washington Post ranked Pombo’s campaign among the 10 worst-run incumbent campaigns in the country, and the Tracy rancher faced a last-minute onslaught of campaigning by well-financed environmental groups supporting McNerney.

Pombo was a champion drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and gutting the Endangered Species Act.
