Quote of the day:
It should come as no surprise to learn that the desert is a sunny, hot, dry, terrible place, unfit for humans, cows or golfers.
From Todd’s Desert Hiking Guide, which is without question the best one-man hiking site on the planet. Todd’s an environmental engineer in Phoenix, Arizona, who’s got a thing for caves, slot canyons and posting useful, detailed information on the hikes he’s done. Of course you have to brave scorpions, rattlesnakes and blinding sun to “enjoy” his advice on hiking in the desert, but think of it as building character.
My only complaint after visiting Todd’s site is that now I realize I have to see all the scenery in his pictures for myself. Heck, I’m just getting started on California and now I have to add Arizona. But it’s amazing stuff.
