A reader writes to ask for recommendations on 20- to 30-mile backpacking trips within a 90-minute drive of Sausalito. I immediately thought of Cache Creek Wildlife Area near Clear Lake, where I went on a dog-friendly outing with some folks a couple summers back.

Any more suggestions? I know most regional/state/national parks are less than welcoming of the panting beasts.
