So the other day I’m at the workout room doing my Stairmaster thing and the TV’s got CNN or some other channel on, and they keep playing the surveillance camera footage of the 11-year-old girl being abducted.
Now her body’s been found and the guy in the video is being charged with murder.
I just want to ask the folks on the TV networks: are you happy now that you’ve shown the last known images of this girl before she was murdered?
I know, it’s just news to us media folks, but for God’s sake that’s somebody’s little girl — and now she’s dead.
I guess our intrusion on her last moments is nothing compared to the actual crime, and even if the networks hadn’t run the images her mom would’ve been just as devastated. And sure, it probably helps to get pictures out to help capture the killer.
But geeze, sometimes we do stuff in this biz that gives me the chills. This is one of ’em.
