If you hang around long enough, one of those jocks will say something that is not a cliche. From Craig Lancaster’s second-day story on Raiders’ weak victory against the worst NFL team of 2002:
Guard Frank Middleton, sitting at his stall in the locker room Monday, was much more succinct.
“We’re just not playing good, man,” he said. “It’s like a good song. When a good song is on, you can do anything you want. Our music ain’t playing right now. Our record’s scratched.”
Not profound, but also not, “we just went out and gave it 110 percent.”
