I’m not sure which use of “resolve” it is to which you object. In politics, it’s usually a steal from the Gettysburg Address.
In labor negotiations, I have heard it used this way: “We don’t want to proceed to the economic issues till we get a resolve on the remaining non-economic ones.” Yuk.
