Romenesko had this yesterday: Dancer we said was dead actually is alive. Now get this:

The obituary was based on one in The Daily Telegraph of London on Nov. 29. The Times was unable to confirm her death independently and, through reporting and editing errors, omitted attribution.

What kind of ship are they runnning over there when crap like this happens? I know, isolated incident, but still. The rag I worked at my first year out of college would’ve never done something like this… it’s so basic, no obit without word from the funeral home, but I guess the point of working for the Times is you don’t have to be troubled with the basics.
